Southern, Happy and Right Proud

Europe has shown just how far they have fallen. What a country of moronic, scared little schoolgirls.
They look down their terrified noses at America - probably to try and draw attention away from the obvious lack of substance they now represent.
So, George Bush gave them a chance to fix Iran. Remember that they knew better about how to deal with Iraq. So what have they accomplished? They've given cover to the world's biggest terrorist (new top 10 list out soon) and now are turning right back to where America was all along. You can't negotiate with Iran. It's time to punish them and mean it.
Note: Donald Rumsfeld caught grief for calling the formerly significant European nations "old Europe". This blog will, from this point forward, apply with the full intent of its double-meaning, the term "Petrified Europe" to refer to the whining, whimpering, self-important, inept failures known heretofore as "Old Europe".
It's into this fray that Hillary Clinton tries to define herself. Yes, it's the same Hillary Clinton that embraced Yassar Arafat while he was blowing up Israeli schoolchildren and all those dangerous cafe patrons. So now she's trying to say that allowing Europe to negotiate with Iran was a big mistake by Bush.
Hmmmm.
How can we deal with this in a serious manner.
Let's start here.
Bullcrap!
She would have us believe that she would have been multi-lateral on Iraq, but unilateral on North Korea and Iran. Does this sound like "I wouldn't have done it that way" to anyone else? No matter what the issue?
So she would not have attacked Iraq, but would have negotiated, I suppose, a bigger and better "Oil for food" program". Maybe one that would have dug a few of Saddam's mass graves for him. You know, as a good will gesture.
Then she would have done what with Iran? Bombed them? And what with North Korea? Incensed China and attacked them?
I suppose she would have continued what her husband did (or she did as co-President) and helped build some more nuclear plants in North Korea (and then Iran) with American money. That would have solved the problem.
How can anyone take her seriously? Besides CNN and the NYT, of course.
Now, of course she doesn't believe any of what she's saying (unless she's totally nuts, that is) but she's running for President so she'll say anything that people will swallow. However, based on this move alone, she would have nullified herself as a serious leader in my book. And she has.
Nullified Hillary and Petrified Europe.
stay tuned.

Is it any coincidence that we killed 3 Al Qaeda leaders and suddenly this "we haven't really been trying" message comes across from UBL?
I remember playing ball with neighborhood kids who used to say that every time they were whipped at some game. Maybe that's what we're dealing with....a 12 year-old cave dwelling terrorist.
Let's take stock of a few things: 1) We took his country away - he used to own Afghanistan, now he owns El Mountain Hole Nowhere, Pakistan. 2) We just killed 3 more of his leaders - we're up to several hundred now 3) He's lost support in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Jordan 4) He's not been able to pull off anything in America in over 4 years (is that not stunning to anyone else? considering how easy it would be?) 5) He hasn't put out a videotape in forever 6) Iraq has held major elections with massive turnout 7) Afghanistan has held major elections with massive turnout 8) Iran has shown Europe that America must be followed in dealing with rogue nations (he needs Europe to despise & mock us). 9) Libya has given up its nuclear weapons program 10) The Pakistani nuclear genius has been exposed and stopped 11) His Syrian partners have lost Lebanon and are lining up world opinion against them 12) China is getting fed up with his North Korean blood-kin and seem to be assisting in keeping that nutcase neutralized.
All of this means that America has made stunning progress after being asleep at the wheel while driving through terrorism in the 90's.
And UBL probably thought America would quiver and crumble. He didn't count on "W".

Every cloud has a silver lining. And the cloud over Congress - of corruption, that is - is nothing new, but it's putrid, just the same. It sickens me to think of the irresponsibility of these individuals (and that's such a soft word) as they've taken our tax dollars and funneled them to places they had no business going, just because they could get a big check for their campaign war chest.
But here's the silver lining. These guys are scared to death. Not only do many of them expect to get sizzled in the frying pan of justice, but most of them realize their congressional way of life has been exposed. And now they know that if they have a prayer of regaining confidence, they've got to enact reforms.
Here's where the silver lining is at risk. These guys (and gals) aren't in the habit of biting the hand that feeds them. So they may try to do the Congressional hokey-pokey by putting their left foot in on meaningful reforms and then pulling it back out by gutting those very reforms either through the slight-of-hand of language in the current bill (read: loopholes) or by amending the bill itself down the road.
Now, for the good news. We're likely to see the Republicans swept out of office in this years elections and the Democrats are well aware of their likely majority status (not that they are better, but a change is probably for the good right now). So the Democrats have to be aware that they are voting limitations on the Republicans that will soon be on their heads. And the Republicans know that their only hope of keeping the majority is by enacting sweeping, meaningful reforms.
All of this means that I expect the Democrats to scream and yell and try to pass absolutely nothing meaningful. While the Republicans try to pass reforms with teeth (assuming the entrenched powers that got us here can be overcome).
This will be interesting to watch.

Anybody know? According to Dick Durbin, abortion becomes illegal. Yep, it's that simple.
Except he's dead wrong.
And he's counting on people being blindly uninformed. He knows that if Roe vs. Wade were overturned that it would simply be up to the states to set their own laws on abortion. Since there is no constitutionally protected right to abortion, then that would be the constitutional path it should take. But would it suddenly be illegal? No, of course not. There would certainly be some Southern States that would vote to make abortion illegal in their states, but since our state borders are no better protected than the Mexican border or the Abramoff cookie jar, abortion would remain quite easily available to anyone who chose it.
But I continue to be impressed with the gall of the left in this debate. They know that overturning Roe v. Wade would not make abortion illegal and yet they say that with a straight face and you never hear the truth from a complicit media that knows the facts.
That's why I'm thankful for Fox News. I hear from conservatives and liberals on that network, though the lean is decidedly conservative. But on the mainstream networks it's a stream of unchallenged comments like Senator Durbins.
Here's the gist of my beef: If abortion is the hot issue of the moment, how is it that few people are willing to deal with it honestly? Ask someone at work tomorrow what would happen if Roe v. Wade were overturned and I'm sure they'll start talking about back alley abortions and needless deaths.
It's all about framing the debate. And Senator Durbin and the left have done a great job of hiding the facts they don't want you to know.

That stinks, but then, so did the Colts today. The Steelers were the better team by far. Good luck Steeltown. sharptalk
