 Gas prices are dropping....

The world is producing about 1 million more barrels of oil each day than is consumed. With the economy cooling a little bit and people adjusting their traveling habits, the demand for oil is likely to continue to expand at a lesser pace than had been expected.

In fact, were it not for Iran and other geopolicital concerns, the price of a barrel of oil would be fairly priced at about $50 instead of $70. This would represent a 30% drop in price - and it may well happen as we head for the fall.

Imagine $1.99 gas.

And if that happens before November 1st, then it could be very bad news for the Democrats. Combine that with continued growth in the economy, continued expansion of world markets, continued growth in productivity and the notion that we're headed in the wrong direction will fade and Republicans will do what they've done in the last several elections.

GDP growth revised up...how is it reported?

GDP growth for the 2nd quarter was just revised up to 2.9% from 2.5% due in part to increased exports. As I've said many times in this space, that will continue to happen as the rest of the world is finally starting to see economic growth.

But how did Bloomburg shout the news?

"U.S. economic growth slowed to 2.9% rate in 2nd quarter"

Do you think they're aware that an election is coming and everyone needs to think we're headed down the toilet if more Democrats are going to be elected?

By the way, that 2.9% rate was pretty close to the average rate during the Clinton "wonder years" where the headlines screamed "happy days are here again".

 Do we remember the lies?

An 8 year string of lies from the Democratic administration in the White House led to George Bush becoming President in the first place. Al Gore would surely have won if not for the unbelievable drug-on lies about Monica and the finger wagging episode.

And even that might not have cost him the White House if not for a series of ridiculous lies that prompted Bob Kerrey to call Bill Clinton "an exceptionally good liar". (To his credit, Kerrey regrets that statement but doesn't deny it. He also stood up to seniors who were demanding more from Social Security in the 90's and showed that he's no typical politician - he has guts, but I digress). Do we remember the "spin" that would come out of the White House regarding everything that came out in the news. The poll tested "truth of the day"?

But the architect of the most morally bankrupt actions of the Clinton administration was Hillary herself. The one who led the dirty tricks campaigns against the victims of her husbands aggressive sexual advances. She proved herself one of the most heartless (almost inhuman in that respect) of White House matrons. She was willing to crush as many innocent people as necessary, to re-victimize victims for her own personal gain.

Why bring all of this up now? Because the Democrats are trying to get people to give them the keys to the new car.

But they have proven they can't be trusted.

 Will they admit they lied?

Everyone who told you that Karl Rove leaked Valerie Plame's name.....lied.

Everyone who called for the heads of Rove, Libby, Cheney and Bush sought passionately to condemn innocent men....through lying.

Everyone who told you that this was a conspiracy of the Bush administration.....lied.

The New York Times devoted massive space to furthering the speculation and accusations against innocent men.  Turns out they were all lies.

So, now, will they condemn Colin Powell and Richard Armitage for these acts of self-protecting cowardice?

And will they admit that they themselves were lying to you after all (in the same way they accuse others of lying about WMD)?

I'm not holding my breath.

Still, it's good to know who you can't trust.

Hurricane or tropical teaser - message from God?

Pat Robertson has apparently learned his lesson.  When it came time for this self-proclaimed prophet of God to predict hurricanes and typhoons, I understand that he said that God told him there "might" be a lot of them this season.

Question:  How many times does a self-proclaimed prophet have to be wrong before it's proven that they are listening to a message from a much darker place than they purport to be?

Answer: Once

He's way past that now.  On top of hugely embarrassing statements that prove he's not in tune with a spirit that wishes to make him look like more than a buffoon.

It does Christians and Christianity enormous harm to have someone say the things he has said and to also have been proven wrong in his so-called prophecies from God.

I didn't write this in order to condemn him, but to distance myself from him and his statements.  It would be better, in my opinion, for him to stick to his strength which is talking about Christ...whether this is a big hurricane season or not.
