Pope comments - Islamic response help Republicans

This may be a slight stretch - I'm sure you'll let me know if it's too far - but I think the fallout from the Pope's comments help the Republicans.

Tonight on the news we got to see angry Iraqis burning the Pope in effigy.  Because of words.

Let me say that again.  Because of words.

I know this can't be all of Islam.  There are too many peaceful, generous people living in the world and following Islam for it to be all there is.

But it's the angry, irrational, extreme Islamic bent of those who would celebrate the death of their enemies and force others to follow their beliefs - who would ride a bike with explosives tied to them into a group of children getting candy from Canadian soldiers as happened this week.

This is the branch of Islam that brought us September 11th in the first place.

Maybe the Pope should have kept his mouth shut, but the response has been crystal clear. And the world is still a terribly dangerous place.  And I think the Republicans look better prepared and more willing to recognize the threat and to fight it before it hits again.

The winner of "they'll believe anything" is....

James Frey.

Thoroughly humiliated author of the fabricated "A million little pieces" blames Iraq for his problems. Here is the quote from MSNBC today:

"Discredited memoirist James Frey says he knows why the public was so outraged by his fabrications in “A Million Little Pieces.” It’s the war in Iraq. “People feel frustrated by a lot of distortions by politicians, by members of the media, by movie stars, by tabloid journalists, and it was like a sorta confluence of events that I happened to be in the middle of,” Frey told the London Guardian. “There are a lot of issues related to truth that are at the forefront of our culture right now because of what happened [in Iraq].”

Yes, James, it's Bush's fault that people disdain you for being a total fraud. And the London Guardian would be quick to spend ink on that, of course.

James, the first step is to admit you have a problem.  If you need help figuring out what it is, step out on the street and ask the first person who comes by.  They'll let you in on the problem.

And it probably isn't Iraq.

From the author of "The Path to 9/11"

This article gives some insight into the fairness of the left with regards to the media. And some chilling insight into disinformation and media and political assaults during an election year.  Can you really believe what they tell you?

 Monday....arrgghhh!

It was an up-and-down weekend (Tennessee lost, but may Fantasy baseball team won the first round of the playoffs and the Colts rocked).

But Monday is such a tough word.

My parents are retired and they love Mondays, because it means all the restaurants, stores and roads are freed up from those pesky working people.

For my part, I either need to retire or change my attitude.

To all the other pesky working people, have a great Monday.
