 Hillary smart...Harry not so much

Hillary announced that Bill would be an ambassador if she were elected. We could do much, much worse. He has an amazing charm and a worldly equity that could definitely help America's image wherever he goes.

Then there's Harry Reid.  The Democrats attempt to lose 2008.  He's never seemed to understand when or how to keep his mouth shut and he comes across as bitter and hysterical - when he's not Mister Rogers.

So now he's setting foreign policy from the Senate floor?  His constitution reads just a little different than the one they teach from in school.

And he's declared the war lost?  Is he trying to hurry up and surrender to terrorists and consider all the blood wasted so he can have more power?

All of his advisors must be on vacation!  Alec Baldwin needs to leave him a voice mail and quick or he'll sink the whole party.  (With apologies to Alec, it's just a current events thing).

What if the shooter had been Muslim?

Can you imagine how many Mosques would have been attacked?  How many Muslims in America would have been treated with disdain wherever they went?  I'm so glad it wasn't an Islamic student.  The fact that the 3-6 million Muslims in America haven't done anything like this despite the war is a great discussion for another time.  Very soon.

The night of the shooting my two sons began to play a video game where the object is to "shoot the bad guys".  These certainly weren't any particular nationality, but it made me furious.  The truth is, I've always had a problem with violent video games.  Ever since Columbine I've thought that they fed the imaginations of impressionable kids way too much.

While it's true that very few ever go out and commit a heinous crime, there was one who killed 31 or more this week.  And in Columbine and other schools, many others.

I'm not for censorship, but I am for responsibility.  And gun control?  At least let's enforce the laws we have.  That would have made it harder for him.

 That's the end of...

...Don Imus on the front page.  He did a moronic, idiotic thing.  But it seems like a lot of wasted energy right now.

I wonder what incredible people and futures were lost on Monday.

That truly matters.  More than any insult

That's what horrible really looks like.

 Why the carnage?

The senseless and foolish deaths at Virginia Tech remind me of one of the early days of the war in Iraq.  A U.S. plane bombed a city and hit a school or some other building with children in it and the people flooded the streets in an unquenchable and righteous rage.

Needless death is horrific and beyond words to describe either in war or peace.

Hopefully the awful war will end soon and hopefully this Virginia Tech incident won't spur others to emulate the sick behavior in order to be the next headline story.

It's beyond horrible.  It's heart crushing.
