 Anyone else notice...

...that Hillary is losing every red state? So what happens if she wins the nomination? Do all those folks go over to McCain?

 The kiss of death

I voted for Romney and he dropped out within 48 hours.

What if I used my powers for good?  Hmmm.

Can the human mind be trained?

I have been reading the blog of a friend called the sandbox. He's very interested in the working of the human mind and its connection to wisdom, empathy, behavior and such.

Sandbox

I'll add the link here later today.  But the thing that really got me thinking was the study he cites that empathy can be learned.  That we react differently to the same input from people like us vs. from those who are different.  But that it may be a trained response.  Could we break down the walls of prejudice, racial and religious hatred, with nothing more than a new perspective?  And is it realistic?

More to come.

 A break in the clouds

I can be a dark cloud on an otherwise beautiful day sometimes.  I feel the sun on my back, the warm gentle wind on my face and the persistent flow of blessings falling like leaves around me.

But I gripe and complain.

I didn't even know how much until a few years ago when God opened my eyes to it.

Well, here's the blessing to end all blessings.  I have a wife who is fun, sweet and patient and she loves me despite my sometime surliness.  She's the girl I saw across a crowded room 21 years ago and thought "I want to marry her".  It just so happens that she was just as beautiful on the inside and all that I had imagined in that first moment of youthful exuberance.

That's life at it's best.  Now I recognize it.  There's nothing to complain about.

 Voting in the rain

I'll be out in the rain and thunder tomorrow, voting for a guy who will probably lose.

I don't start out with a plan to vote for a guy who won't win, it just usually turns out that way.

This year, I'm voting for Romney.  Of those who remain (Thompson had real possibilities) he is head and shoulders above.

But, for some reason, folks are getting out and voting for McCain.  I appreciate his service to the country in the 1960's and I appreciate his support of the efforts to create a democracy in Iraq.

But his tactics are dreadful, his core is liberal and he's an arrogant son of a gun.

I'm not uninspired by John McCain, I'm disgusted.

Well, at least the Democratic race will stay interesting.

Get out and vote.  This is the heart of democracy and freedom.
